Stunning Wildlife Pictures In Honour Of World Animal Day

A turtle hatchling close-up, a reindeer wipeout, and a coyote mid-hunt—here are some animal highlights from Photo of the Day.

National Geographic is famous throughout the world for the calibre of its wildlife photography. Our editors at Your Shot regularly receive stunning animal pictures that exemplify the technical skill, patience, and creativity required to be a skilled wildlife photographer.

On October 4 we recognise World Animal Day, a celebration of wildlife and the work being done to improve their welfare. Here are some of our top shots of animals from Photo of the Day over the last year.
