Small single five-petal flowers, ranging from white to deep pink in color. Sweet-smelling native rose. Grows 3-8 ft (1-2.5 m) tall, with dark red and occasionally green stems. Rosehips, when green resemble peas.
Moist, swampy thickets, in roadside ditches and along streams.
Southern British Columbia to northern California, at lower elevations west of the Cascades.
