•    There are legends that some of Prague’s underground tunnels and passageways were once used by the city’s criminal fraternity.

•    Josefov is the name of Prague’s ancient Jewish Ghetto, which became a settlement around the 12th Century.

•    Per person, the people of the Czech Republic consume more beer than any other country in the world. A big part of Czech culture, hops for making the beverage were cultivated in the country as early as 859 A.D. The oldest brewery in Prague has been in operation since 1499.

•    The reign of Charles IV brought a period of peace and prosperity to Prague. During his rule, the city became the center of the European Empire and was recognized as the second Christian metropolis in Europe.

•    Every hour from 9 a.m. till 11 p.m., the March of the Apostles make their rounds at the Prague Astronomical Clock, situated in Prague’s Old Town Square.
