Climate change, genetic mutations and artificial intelligence could lead to a dramatic transformation

Red eyes. Superhuman abilities. Nanorobots integrated into the body. The humans of the future could be very different creatures to ourselves.

A new video from AsapScience, predicts a future in which we become part-human and part-machine, hypothesizing that, “No longer will we be limited by our own physiology, but truly become a mixture of biology and machine on the inside.”

Climate change and global warming will make us taller and thinner with darker skin, as this body type is better suited to dissipating heat. Genetic mutations will leave us with red eyes and superhuman abilities.

The makers also suggest that designer babies will lead to a world of incredibly intelligent and attractive people.

“'But while that will make us better smarter, stronger and better looking, such genetic similarity, or lack of human diversity, leaves room for a single new disease of the future, to wipe out the entire human race.”

This isn’t the first time scientists have speculated on what humanity will look like in the future. Back in 2013, artist Nickolay Lamm created illustrations of futuristic humans based on the theories of computational geneticist Dr Aman Kwan (pictured below).

The pictures were highly controversial within the scientific community, but Lamm has stood by his work, telling Mashable, “There is a subtle but important distinction between a prediction and a hypothesis. Obviously, nobody can predict what will happen 100,000 years from now, but this is one possibility based on reasoned thought.”

Cadell Last, a researcher at the Global Brain Institute, claims mankind is currently undergoing a major evolutionary transition that is on par with the change from apes into humans.

“'Your 80 or 100 is going to be so radically different than your grandparents,” says Last, claiming that in less than 40 years we will be having children in old age and relying on artificial intelligence.
