Watch a rocket launch from Space

The footage was taken via the Dove satellite.

The company known as ‘Planet’ was fortunate enough for their roaming Dove Satellite to align with their Soyuz Launch, enabling them to capture one of their rockets launch.

The footage was captured by maneuvering their little satellite over the launchpad in Kazakhstan.

The animation was created by pointing their “Dove” satellite around 50 degrees off nadir in the direction of the launch pad. The satellite then captured an image per second as the satellite travelled seven km per hour. The satellite took enough stills to make a short video.

These stills were then cropped and stitched together to create the moving animation. The clip covers around two and a half minutes of real-time footage.
