Spanning 31meters, the grand arches form a nave about three times wider than a typical Gothic cathedral. This is the most ambitious building project in the whole of the Byzantine Empire, but as they prepare to build the grand arches, Anthemius and Isidore may be unaware of the enormity of the task they have taken on.
