Machu Picchu: Location
Machu Picchu is a truly spectacular site, but its very location will cause huge problems for its builders. The ridge is uneven, strewn with fractured and broken granite. Sheer cliffs plunge down to the forests below. Each year, torrential storms can dump 200 centimetres of rain onto the mountainside. It is also prone to earthquakes.
