Musk is as keen as ever for SpaceX’s first manned voyage, so much so, he’s gone ahead and made the first SpaceX space suit.
Not only does the SpaceX suit look like designer product but it’s also fully functional, Musk insists in an announcement made over Instagram today:
"First picture of SpaceX spacesuit, more in days to follow. Worth noting that this actually works [not a mock-up]. Already tested to double vacuum pressure. Was incredibly hard to balance aesthetics [sic] and function. Easy to do either separately."
Musk’s announcement over Instagram has fans and followers flustered as conjecture over the suit’s purpose, and details are discussed.

Musk’s “double vacuum pressure” has caused some speculation in the science community as a vacuum is an absence of matter. Therefore a double vacuum doesn’t make much sense. Some suggest this refers to the difference in pressure inside as opposed to outside the suit.
"'Double vacuum pressure' just means they tested a 2 atm [atmosphere] pressure difference between the suit and the environment," explained one person over Reddit.
This allows them to be extra sure that the suit won't rupture if it is exposed to vacuum.
Musk’s suit resembles something out of a sci-fi movie with its super sleek design and monochromatic colours. The look of the suit was designed by Hollywood costume designer Jose Fernandez, who worked on batman, Wonder Woman and Spiderman.
“Musk wanted it to look stylish. It had to be practical but also needed to look great, when people put this spacesuit on, he wants them to look better than they did without it, like a tux. You look heroic in it."
For Musk, this is another step toward his ultimate goal of terraforming other planets in our solar system.
