About the Show
The war in the Pacific is seen for the first time through exclusive colour footage from Japan’s December 7 attack on Pearl Harbour in 1941, to August 6 in 1945 when Truman uses the atom bomb to conclude four years of painful fighting in the Pacific. The US Navy’s colour films portray images of horror and heroism set against a backdrop of exotic islands, jungle, the Coral Sea in flames, Guadalcanal littered with bodies and Kamikaze attacks. Witness, for the first time, images of the Pacific Hell from which arose the spectre of nuclear apocalypse.
