Follow Farmer Finds Woolly Mammoth Bones In Michigan Oct. 7, 2015 - James Bristle, a farmer in Michigan recently found a woolly mammoth rib bone while digging a hole on his newly acquired property. He alerted the University of Michigan who sent Dan Fisher and a team to excavate the area. What they found was several bones and evidence that they believe shows that the mammoth was killed by humans and stashed away in an ancient pond for safe keeping. Fisher believes the mammoth died at least 11,000 years ago, but further testing is needed to confirm the age of the fossils.

Their presence on small islands may have a great effect on the nesting behaviour of birds. Islands that contain coconut crabs have been observed with little to no bird populations.

Follow Police Raid What Is Possibly Europe's Largest Illegal Turtle Farm August 23, 2018 - Law enforcement has seized over 1,100 turtles and tortoises from an alleged illegal hatchery on the Spanish island of Mallorca. This is the largest illicit turtle farm in Europe, Spanish police say. Among the animals seized were 14 of the 50 most endangered turtle species in the world, according to Europol. Trade of many of these species is typically banned under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES). The suspects face charges of smuggling of protected species and money laundering. The investigation is ongoing.
